Goin' to the Chapel.....

Luci's big on playing wedding, family, everything with her dolls.  If it's not Barbie, it's her little friends from Littlest Pet Shop and the other small dolls.

Here are a pair getting married, complete with the white carpet down the aisle.  (It's toilet paper)
Here's what I heard during the ceremony:

Do you, Sandy, take Christopher to be your husband?  In sickness and in hell?

That's what she said.

Yes, I corrected her.  After I wiped up the coffee I spit out.

A Good Mommy

Not me.   Luci!   She's a good Mommy.

Luci calls me "Grandma" when she's playing with her babies.

She explained why while rolling her eyes (seems she thinks I'm a slow learner):

Because you're their Grandma.  Your Mom is my Grandma.  When I'm married, you'll be my babies' grandma.  That's how the system works!

Rain, Another Guizhou Girl and a New Toy

Took this photo for John today (he misses the rain), from our porch looking out into the backyard. Just after this, the weather authorities issued a tornado warning for this very storm (yikes!). And, ten minutes later. The yard needs mowing! It looks wild and wooly to me.

I just had to include this photo--all of these are unretouched. This was taken several hours later, near sunset. The sun came out for a few minutes. We had one more band of rain come through after this shot for a total of about 2 inches of rain today. Amazing color!
Ashley, a young girl from Luci's province of China (Guizhou), has begun modeling and acting. She is 4, like Luci, and lives far away from here. I know Ashley and her mom through our blogging...and this is a product of Ashley's modeling career! A doll from Toys R Us has Ashley's photo on the package.

We are really tickled for Ashley!

Now for the "toy" part of the post: A VitaMix blender! I figured that if I make Luci's rice milk for her, I will have saved enough to cover the cost of this machine in less than a year. (It's already paid for, but that alone will recoup the cost.) Here is the first thing made: Banana Ice Cream! You can let it harden in the freezer, or have it right away--these were really terrific milk shakes! (Yes, it was made with dairy and not Luci's rice milk...so I'll start that next.)

They Finally Got Married!

I've waited for this for a long, long time...43 years, to be exact. I was about 5 years old when I first asked my brothers to let one of their G I Joes marry my Barbie doll. They always said no. Mean ol' Buddy, Tommy and Sammy.

.

Bryan and JT are nicer...they found a G I Joe in the basement and freed him so that Luci could hold a wedding for her Cinderella Barbie and G I Joe.

It's So Hard to Be Civil...

...when you've had very little sleep. It is humiliating to have to apologize to your own kids more than once in a day. Luci has slept through the night just 4 more times since December 17, the last sleep post. The last few nights, she has wakened and needed momma TWICE a night. I am exhausted. Nothing works...making her miss naps...feeding extra snacks before bed...melatonin...extra physical activity during the day.
Nana, recognize that Raggedy Ann? The clothes are in a safe place.
