Luci has her own fashion sense. She is using the belt as a hair bow!
This dress is from Robin, at Red Thread Stitches boutique.
Robin is a mother of children from China, too. She uses her talents to help others bring their children home. Our purchase is helping someone else--I love that. And Luci loves, loves, loves her dress!
It's cold out here, Mama! Hurry!
We really do have the prettiest daughter!
Our life since adding one Chinese sister....I hope you enjoy the journey with us. Luci is a Yi Baby from Guizhou Province. Please note that this site uses cookies.

Another Sunday Morning

It's a new record!
Luci kept her clothes on FOUR days this week! Fully dressed each one of those four days. Usually she peels off her clothes the moment we get home from karate and the other places we go (you'd think homeschoolers stayed home. We don't!), but four days this week she kept her clothes on past suppertime. Way to go, Luci!
JT and Luci washed the van for me today. It was the first day in MONTHS that the temperature was below 90*. They were told to not squirt each other on purpose. Luci showed up at the back door, sopping wet and boots full of water (squishing as she walked!) to tell me that "JT did not squirt me, Momma. I did this all by myself!"

Luci-ism
shred: what some fashion-folks call a "shrug."
shrub: see "shred."

Shrug: n 2. A woman's short jacket or sweater open down the front.

Just another excuse to show off my baby.

Papa Remembered What Nana Was Wearing When He Met Her
My grandfather, Papa, told me this story decades after meeting his wife...and gave me some advice.
I was a young schoolteacher at the time, just like Nana was when she married Papa. Papa told me that when he first met Nana, she was wearing a red wool jacket. He told me (a spinster at 26!) to get a red wool jacket, too. He thought that might make a difference. So I did, and before long I met John, and the rest is history, as they say.
Nana must have known something:
story: Red on Women Drives Men Wild

Luci's Weekend
We got a pool--it seemed plenty big until JT got in.
Splash!
Luci got some new clothes and had to wear all of them one hot morning,

Splash!
on the way to get the newspaper. She was quite
sweaty when she got back into the house.
