For our Secret Santas...and one for my Mom!

Dear Secret Santas,
Than you for making it so much fun to get up! (Except for Bryan--did you see the photo in the previous post? Being 16 and getting up before noon just don't go together.) You all really make us wonder just who you are. We are having fun; I hope you are too.
.
Did you see this cartoon in the paper today? "The Argyle Sweater" comic:

Mom, this one's for you: Do you remember the scarf and hat sets that Granddaddy and Mary sent Janet and me for Christmas one year? It was in Cheyenne. I was in sixth grade. Mine was blue, and Janet's was red, and they had HAPPY FACES on them! Then you spent the next six years trying to get me to stop using that scarf! It's been raining so much here that I got us all new umbrellas today--here's mine!

This made me LOL

That's Laugh Out Loud. Zits is often the "That-happened-here" comic strip.
Well phooey. I re-posted the comic, choosing the smallest setting for photo size and it still left off the last frame! Here it is on the web, if you must see the whole thing. But the third frame tells the story well enough!

Rethinking Retirement

John is looking to retire in the next twelve months or so....

After spending a lovely breakfast with our crew, John is rethinking this retirement thing. He says he's going to have to do something to stay busy (and I guess he means out of the house to not hear the bickering boys). I just said, "Welcome to my world."

John Had the House to Himself

for a few days while we were gone....His Army trip was over before our "Wild West" trip ended. He says this is true for him!

This is SO Much Our House!

... especially after a day of homeschooling and Luci's had the run of the house.

We Must Spread the Word!

I can't believe I've been doing it wrong all these years.

Thanks, Micki, for the funny!

My Sleepless Angel

Okay, so she slept through ONE night. The last two nights have been horrible, and only about 2 hours of sleep each night. I should never mention her sleeping all the way through, it jinxes the days that follow!
And this comic fit all too well today!

My Parents' House

No comment from me!

Our House

Replace the animals with a kid or two, and you have the situation here....

Almost as soon as John leaves the driveway, I put Luci's bedrail on the bed...and last night she slept through the night! We'll deal with "where to sleep" issues after I get some more sleep....

Bryan Recognized Himself in the Funnies

He was right--on Friday, it took Bryan 4 minutes to inhale a 12" sandwich from Subway with everything on it (and I do mean everything! The young lady fixing the sandwich had trouble putting the top on the sub).

Luci Wants a Pet

Today she asked if we could get her a sheep. That really puzzled me, but maybe she has something there.....

Thanks to Lori for sending me this cartoon!

New Phrases

At the church picnic, the boys took turns watching Luci for me. At one point, I asked Bryan to take over. Apparently, he'd never heard the expression I used. Here was the conversation:

mom: Go spell J.T., Bryan.

Bryan: J.T.

mom: (rolling her eyes) Bryan, go spell J.T.

Bryan: (in an exagerated voice) J-dot T-dot.

mom: (finally understanding) Go watch your sister!

How funny that this was today's Family Circus!

Don't Teach Her That!

This also happens at our house. The boys have taught Luci all kinds of icky things.
