This is a wonderful montage with a song by Rascal Flatts. Get a hanky.
Please don't forget the tremendous losses here in our state and the work still to be done.
Our life since adding one Chinese sister....I hope you enjoy the journey with us. Luci is a Yi Baby from Guizhou Province. Please note that this site uses cookies.

Mom! Come watch me!
That's what I heard this evening while I was folding laundry. Since I am always eager to stop housework, I ran outside to see what Luci was doing.
She and John were in the front yard.
"Mommy! I am talented! Watch me!" Here is the result:

Homeschool Convention, Here We Come!
I am getting almost giddy about this weekend...
a trip to Memphis for a huge homeschool convention! The Midsouth Homeschool Convention, to be exact (button on the right).
Can you say BOOK SALE??
WOW.
John probably is hoping I'll leave the credit card at home. (He's allowed to hope!)
Luci and I will be making it a girls' weekend. John's staying home with the boys, keeping them on task with schoolwork.
Thursday we are going to the Memphis Zoo--a first visit for both Luci and myself. She's all excited to see the Panda exhibit. "But Mommy, we have to walk right past the alligators, they are scary!" So that's what we'll do.
After the Zoo, we head to the "fancy hotel" and play Eloise and Nanny. One of my favorite quotes from the Eloise movies is, "Nanny says, 'Life experience is the best education there is!'"
Friday night we have tickets to see Tim Hawkins. He is hilarious! Here's a video of his that's one of my favorites. I think it's been on this blog before, but it's been so long I'm putting it up again.

Speed Limit Enforcement
I've always wondered how they could "enforce" your speed by aircraft. They could certainly measure it, but not slow you down.
Until Now.

Videos from Wonder Works
JT on the XTREME 360--JT is on the front of the closest car (or "cycle"). Notice Luci's reaction to the goings-on around her
JT and Luci with the Magic Fingerpainting wall. This was in a less-frenetic part of the museum.
And the harp without strings...

Gold from China
We just watched the Gold Medal Pairs Ice Skating team, Chen and Zhao from China. Wow! Luci is proud of these folks from her home country, and I quote:
I like her, she wears sparkly clothes.
I guess when you are 5, that is what's important.

The Best Christmas Present!
Besides John being here, I mean...and of course I love the Black-n-Decker Electric Broom that JT got for me.
Bryan and Luci made this for me.

Now, Time for Something a Little More Light-Hearted
John made it to the USA. With a story to tell on the way, that I will share later. But for now, here's a song that is decidedly more light-hearted than the last few. John gets home tomorrow night after signing out with the Corps of Engineers tomorrow morning.
This is Jingle Bells, the Punjabi version, from Nickelodeon TV in India. One of John's colleagues while in DjiBouti emailed it to us. Enjoy!

How Many Kings?
Do you believe, is this who we've waited for?
How many kings stepped down from their thrones?
How many lords have abandoned their homes?
How many greats have become the least for me?
How many gods have poured out their hearts to romance a world that has torn all apart?
How many fathers gave up their sons for me?
Only one did that for me.
All for me.
All for you.
This is one of the songs that was sung at the church Christmas party last night. I have never heard it before last night. It's my new favorite song.

What in the World...
Disney World, that is. My Dad called this morning, thinking we fell off the face of the Happiest Place on Earth. So this post is for him and my Mom.
What we've been doing: The boys have been on every wild ride and Luci and I...well, we haven't been on many rides at all. We did go on the Winnie the Pooh Honey Pots ride, loved it, and "NEVER DOING THAT AGAIN!"
Went on Buzz Lightyear's ride in Magic Kingdom (did you hear her SREAMING through the whole line? Yes, we used the Fast-Pass option, thank goodness, so the length of screaming was kept to a minimum.) I had to carry her through the line and toss her onto the vehicle. Once inside the vehicle, she quieted down and quickly figured out she could steer us in circles. That kept her happy and once out of the ride, she proclaimed that she loved it, it's her new favorite ride, but..."NEVER DOING THAT AGAIN!"
Went on the carousel, which was a cry-fest last year. This year, she LOVED IT and actually let me take her on it three more times over the next day and a half.
When we got to Disney's Hollywood Studios, Luci had to be talked in to seeing Disney's Playhouse Show. She loved it, and even asked to go see it again, which of course we did. Talked her into seeing Beauty and the Beast show, incredible show, which she did and here's the way she saw most of it: her hands over her ears, and my hand over her eyes:
Most of the time, though, all Luci and I did was stand in line and see characters and get their autographs. At Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, the only thing Luci would do was dance with Cinderella's stepsisters and stepmother.
Another popluar pasttime at Disney World is eating. Here is Luci's way of enjoying the meal: by not eating and PLAYING:At Hollywood Studios, there is always something going on. I saw this "movie director" head out into the street, so I told him that I knew of someone who would make a great actor--and pointed at Bryan. Here are the results. They are all pretty short, so they shouldn't take too long to load up and watch.

Thirty Days of Thanks...
I am thankful for CHRIST, who saved me and gave me an eternity with OUR HEAVENLY FATHER.
I am thankful for videos like this one, which proclaim Christ. One line in this video that I especially like: Christmas is about Christ, and after 2,000 years, He's still intimidating people!
