Rearranging Furniture

We are talking about changing Luci's room around.   Here's part of the conversation from tonight:

Mom!  Daddy wants to make me sleep in a BUG BED!!!

Um,  Luci, he said, "bunk bed."

New Stuff

Here's our new stuff! I love it. We have a small living room, so we now have a love seat and matching recliner. Matching!! We also got a side table, which Luci has already put to use.

And it's leather...total luxury. This stuff will last us a long, long time. Our last couch was in great shape still, at 7 years. The Nances have it now, and I hope they get lots of use out of it, too.

Luci just drew this picture of "Daddy." It's a profile--you can see both eyes, with his glasses. I totally love this picture.

Just some little things....

We rearranged the furniture in the living room today. If we can't have new stuff, let's make the old stuff look different.

Bryan is doing some study towards the ACT test he'll have to eventually take. He has two books to study from, assigned as part of his school work. The other day he told me he had "a dream about the ACT test--a whole section on the binary system, and I knew all the answers!" I hope that's a good omen!

All of our curriculum for next year is here. I get all excited about the new stuff, Luci is excited (we'll start K with her early). I wish the boys would get even a little bit excited about anything related to school.

Luci's concerned that Daddy won't recognize our living room, now that things are rearranged.

The First Supper

Really, it was lunch, not supper.

John was gone on his trip when the table got here last Friday, so the official first meal happened when my Soldier Boy got home on Sunday. A good Feingold stage 1 meal of pot roast and gravy, rice and green beans. Not too adventurous, but good.

A New Table!

First, the old, broken behemoth had to go. No, not Bryan--the huge table. John had to take it apart to move it. We ordered the new table in May. It had to be finished and put together, and we expected it to be delivered in July. This big table had to be moved. (July 20)
Next came the cold, metal table borrowed from church. It was the beginning of August, and still no new table. :( After some calling, the furniture company tracked it down--the new table was in Canada and had to walk here on its own, so it would take awhile. No, really the company that made it takes a 3 week holiday in July/August. Wow! Where is that?! I want to work there, too! The borrowed table meant no more meals in our laps in the living room, and school could begin. (August 1) And lastly, the New Table! Luci was not sure about getting a new table until she found out she could run laps around it.
Nice! Next, the hutch gets moved back into the dining room and I can use the bottom of it to store our daily-use homeschool books. Then that tacky plastic shelf in the corner can go. We also have a leaf that we can put in when needed, making the table nearly 6 ft long.

A New Bed!

This could also be entitled, "Keeping Up With Kalyn." She has a nice big bed, too, and her mommy told me how nice it was. We did get different bedding, though!

Those of you with children who sleep through the night, Congratulations! For the rest of us, especially the parents of adopted children. we have to do what we can to keep the "abandonment screams" away. Luci still wakes in the night and if she can't find me, she gets hysterical. That is not an exaggeration--she gets hysterical! This bed will let me lie down with her while she goes to sleep and get back in bed with her if she needs that in the middle of the night. This also means that John and I have our bedroom back. Yes, I know that the nightstand is really just a plastic bin thing from Walmart. A real nightstand will have to wait.
