Catching Up

We had lightning hit our lines last Friday, and was not attended to by ATT until Wednesday.  So I am behind on posting.

Luci lost her first tooth!   Aww, my baby is growing up.  There's no stopping her progress now.
 And this Luci-ism:

You can tell we talk politics at our house.  Luci told me about this actress, "Angelina JoeLieberman."

 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This comes under the heading of
Ewww!
a bail bondsman's vehicle here in town:
If you can't read what's on the window, here's what it says:
Don't let the soap drop.  Call us first.
Like I said, "EWWWW!"
What we woke up to:
The perpetrators used two (two!) packages of Charmin. I know because they sweetly left the empty bags in our newspaper box. Now, why on Earth did the little bit they covered need two packages?
.
And why Charmin?
.
Even the kid who cleaned it up was impressed with the quality. He thought he should have saved it to use later, in the house....
What in the World...
Disney World, that is. My Dad called this morning, thinking we fell off the face of the Happiest Place on Earth. So this post is for him and my Mom.
What we've been doing: The boys have been on every wild ride and Luci and I...well, we haven't been on many rides at all. We did go on the Winnie the Pooh Honey Pots ride, loved it, and "NEVER DOING THAT AGAIN!"
Went on Buzz Lightyear's ride in Magic Kingdom (did you hear her SREAMING through the whole line? Yes, we used the Fast-Pass option, thank goodness, so the length of screaming was kept to a minimum.) I had to carry her through the line and toss her onto the vehicle. Once inside the vehicle, she quieted down and quickly figured out she could steer us in circles. That kept her happy and once out of the ride, she proclaimed that she loved it, it's her new favorite ride, but..."NEVER DOING THAT AGAIN!"
Went on the carousel, which was a cry-fest last year. This year, she LOVED IT and actually let me take her on it three more times over the next day and a half.
When we got to Disney's Hollywood Studios, Luci had to be talked in to seeing Disney's Playhouse Show. She loved it, and even asked to go see it again, which of course we did. Talked her into seeing Beauty and the Beast show, incredible show, which she did and here's the way she saw most of it: her hands over her ears, and my hand over her eyes:
Most of the time, though, all Luci and I did was stand in line and see characters and get their autographs. At Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, the only thing Luci would do was dance with Cinderella's stepsisters and stepmother.
Another popluar pasttime at Disney World is eating. Here is Luci's way of enjoying the meal: by not eating and PLAYING:
At Shades of Green, our resort, there is a free video game room for the kids. JT, Luci and I checked it out Wednesday. JT had fun with his racing games, and Luci and I played Wii Disney Princesses (what else?):
well, it only looks like she's playing...
Here's what was really going on:
At Hollywood Studios, there is always something going on. I saw this "movie director" head out into the street, so I told him that I knew of someone who would make a great actor--and pointed at Bryan. Here are the results. They are all pretty short, so they shouldn't take too long to load up and watch.
Heard and Seen Recently
A couple of days ago, at dinner, one of the boys (who shall remain nameless, but his intials are J.T.) was going on and on about what he "needs" us to get him. I said, "(nameless son), it's not all about you." Whereupon Luci pipes up, "Yeah! It's all about ME."
Bryan has been wearing a bracelet--you know, those rubbery things that are so popular now--that says, "Army Strong." He's had it on since John's trip started up again at the end of June. He says it is in support of his Dad.
JT has been practicing his paint ball moves in the field out back. He's ready to take us all on when John gets home.
John told me I could go look for a camera for my Christmas present, so I did. I now have a very nice Nikon D3000. John is so good at picking out gifts. Here's a photograph that I took today, after about 45 minutes of learning how to use the camera. Luci is trying to blow the fuzz off of a dandelion.
Princesses and Other Stuff
Three pretty Princesses. The Nance girls with Luci.
Luci all ready for school. She thinks she is going to ride a bus to Kindergarten this year, even though we HOMESCHOOL and she starts Kindergarten officially NEXT year. I may have to paint our van yellow and drive her around every morning. Oh, yeah, Luci dressed herself. I think she did a pretty good job of matching things.
We are getting some new furniture for our living room, and trading out the Tabriz for a rug John got in Kabul on his 2004 trip.
Corn, Week 5. And Corny!!
Trying this from a different perspective--right between the cornstalks. Week 5 here: Week 4. Wow, what a difference!
Our first squash. Doggone it! We were out of butter yesterday when these were picked, so we'll have them tonight after a Piggly Wiggly run. Luci says she will eat them. We shall see.
Here's the "corny" part. One 4 year old + One happy meal box = Silly!
Hilarious!
This caused Luci to cackle with glee! She saw this on the grill of a semi and hollered, "HERMIT!"
And we drove for 9 hours to find ourselves back home?? Somewhere on I-70...
The Fed-up Homeschooler's Wish List
This is funny, irreverent, and true. It's a think piece for everyone who doesn't homeschool, and one of those "Amen!" moments for those of us who do. Thanks, Abby, for sharing it first on your blog.
Just in from the AP Wire:
All of the Wal-Marts across Alabama are sold out of ammunition, as of this afternoon. A reliable source said that one of the purchasers commented that while Russia may have invaded Georgia, they sure as heck ain't aget'n into Alabama.
Thanks for sending me the funny, John!
Some Luci-isms
Luci, are you awake?
Not yet!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Do you like that new food?

I like it not so very much a lot.

While we are doing lessons, we hear this from Luci, who is in another room:

Mama, it going to es-plode! (we still haven't found what exploded)

John's Computer Woes

Subject: Computer Hard and Software

Dear Tech Support:

Last year I upgraded from Girlfriend 7.0 to Wife 1.0. I soon noticed that the new program began unexpected child processing that took up a lot of space and valuable resources. In addition, Wife 1.0 installed itself into all other programs and now monitors all other system>activity.

Applications such as Poker Night 10.3, Football 5.0, Hunting and Fishing 7.5, and Racing 3.6 no longer run, crashing the system whenever selected.I can't seem to keep Wife 1.0 in the background while attempting to run my favorite applications.

I'm thinking about going back to Girlfriend 7.0, but the uninstall doesn't work on Wife 1.0. Please help!

Thanks,A Troubled User.

Dear Troubled User:

This is a very common problem that men complain about. Many people upgrade from Girlfriend 7.0 to Wife 1.0, thinking that it is just a Utilities and Entertainment program. Wife 1.0 is an OPERATING SYSTEM and is designed by its Creator to run EVERYTHING!!!

It is also impossible to delete Wife 1.0 and to return to Girlfriend 7.0. It is impossible to uninstall, or purge the program files from the system once installed.You cannot go back to Girlfriend 7.0 because Wife 1.0 is designed to not allow this. Look in your Wife 1.0 manual under Warnings-Alimony-Child Support.

I recommend that you keep Wife1.0 and work on improving the situation. I suggest installing the background application "Yes Dear" to alleviate software augmentation.The best course of action is to enter the command C:\APOLOGIZE because ultimately you will have to give the APOLOGIZE command before the system will return to normal anyway.

Wife 1.0 is a great program, but it tends to be very high maintenance. Wife 1.0 comes with several support programs, such as Clean and Sweep 3.0, Cook It 1.5 and Do Bills 4.2. However, be very careful how you use these programs. Improper use will cause the system to launch the program Nag, Nag 9.5. Once this happens, the only way to improve the performance of Wife 1.0 is to purchase additional software. I recommend Flowers 2.1 and Diamonds 5.0!

WARNING!!! DO NOT, under any circumstances, install Secretary With Short Skirt 3.3. This application is not supported by Wife 1.0 and will cause irreversible damage to the operating system.

Best of luck,

Tech Support

One More from Idaho

Okay, this is not really from our trip to Idaho. I was going to say it's Bryan and JT skateboarding, and their grandmother, but I still want Mom to call me and be my friend.
