Cool Things

Tonight, after working on World Bible School, I made smoothies (love that VitaMix!).

Luci's gave her brain freeze!

I caved and got Luci some Skechers "Twinkle Toes" shoes.  They are plenty big, so she will get lots of wear out of them.  The shoes are sorta expensive (yipes!) but wow, they flash!  LED lights in the toes of these already-sparkly shoes (they have an abundance of sequins, and then they added the lights) really make them stand out.  Lots of fun for a little girl.
Heard today, I think my hearing is going:

while listening to a Christian CD (Wee Sing):

Luci sang along, and then said:  Jesus likes hearing this CD.  It makes Him happy!

Yes, it does.  I know He loves hearing you sing, too.

 I know!  I am a fish stick!

What?  You're a fish stick?

No!  I said, 'I am a Christian!'

Also today, Luci told us this story:

One day, when I was in my bedroom with Bryan, I wanted to hit him!

I heard this voice in my head saying, "Don't hit him.  Don't hit him."

That's your conscience, Luci.

Then I heard another voice saying, "Hit him! Hit him!"

But I didn't hit him.

Much.

Things that Make Me Smile

Luci trying to make a face just like Curious George...since she was born in the Year of the Monkey, this is rather appropriate!Some new shoes and a cerise-colored jacket. Re-starting Flylady for getting my household in order.

The shoes are for using indoors with Flylady. I needed something with clean soles, as we take off our shoes when entering the house. These are just for inside. Flylady says to "get dressed down to your lace-up shoes." So no flip-flops (zoris to you who know what they are), slippers or stocking-feet. You just feel like you are able to get more done if you have on shoes.

Why Flylady? Because I was not B.O. (Born Organized). In 2001, I started Flylady and was doing very well. Did well until 2005, when Luci entered the picture. Actually, I was doing well with Luci, too, until she started walking, and could destroy a room with the best of them. Our house looked like a blender set to "frappe." Not good. Now I'm working on the Baby Steps again, and feel like we can accomplish a lot here.

Funny, what can make me happy.

Shoes...Luci Has More Pairs than I Do

What is it about boys and shoes? I sent Luci to church with John and the boys last Wednesday while I stayed home, babysitting a migraine. Luci was fully dressed when she left. On the way home from anywhere, Luci often shucks her shoes and socks off in the van...so when I couldn't find her tennis shoes late this week, I assumed they were under something in the van. Moved everything, still couldn't find them. I get to Sunday school today with Luci, and there are her shoes! Sitting out in the hall, waiting for me to pick them up.

So, why didn't John, Bryan or JT notice the child was without shoes when they picked her up, and took her out to the car? I asked John,

"Would you notice if I didn't wear shoes?"

"Of course!"

"Then why didn't you notice Luci's bare feet?"

"Her feet are way down there!"

"My feet are right next to the floor, just like Luci's!"

"You're lucky we remembered to bring her home."

I think that last line was a joke. I hope. Now I want to know where her cute pink socks ended up--they are still missing!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Just wanted to include this picture that Luci drew Saturday. It is a self-portrait. I thought the inclusion of teeth was pretty cute, since she's never put teeth in a picture. It struck me that there is no outline of the face (she has always drawn a circle to hold the eyes and mouth), and today there is a hairbow (which she never wears). Bryan thought her neck looked weird but I told him that part was her legs. You try it. Look down at your neck--you don't see your neck, but you can see your legs! Makes perfect sense. That class of Dr. Doran's at Harding came in handy yesterday!
What Kind of Shoe Are You?
You Are Cowboy Boots
This doesn't mean you're country, just funky.
You've got a ton of attitude and confidence.
You're unique, expressive, and even a little bit wacky.
You wear whatever you feel like and you have your own sense of style.
You are straight shooting and honest. You tell people how it is.
Low maintenance and free wheeling, you're always up for an adventure.
You should live: Where you can at least get to wide open spaces
You should work: In a job that allows you to take change
I'm assuming the last line is supposed to be "You should work: In a job that allows you to take charge." Or maybe it's supposed to be "make change."
I don't know about the "always up for an adventure" part. Maybe it's true, seeing how I drag the kids across country about once a year, and we did do that big trip to China to adopt (that's an adventure, for sure!).
I do know quite a few people who would agree that I am a little bit wacky. They might even say I'm quite a bit wacky.
