This is National Adoption Month, or Highlight Adoption Month, or some such. So many thoughts on this--how I am so thankful for Luci's birth family choosing life for her, how the tragedy of losing her first family makes it possible for us to have this precious child, and the list goes on.
People who have not adopted don't always know what is just below the surface. For example, yesterday in Sunday school, one of the topics was "Fear." Kids shared what they were scared of. Luci told me she said, "Justin Bieber," which got some laughs.
"Mom, I didn't tell them what I'm really afraid of."
What's that?
"You know. That I will never get to meet my China mama."
